Sinovac Biotech Ltd.(NASDAQ:SVA) shares jumped 20.54% to $3.99. The company on May 28 announced its unaudited first quarter financial results for the period ended March 31, 2013. Total sales for the first quarter 2013 increased by 68% to $10.1 million, from $6.0 million in first quarter of 2012. Net loss attributable to stockholders in the first quarter of 2013 was $2.0 million, or $0.04 per basic and diluted share, compared to a net loss of $5.6 million, or $0.10 per basic and diluted share, for the same quarter of last year.
CapLease, Inc. (NYSE:LSE) stock gained 20.42% to $8.55. American Realty Capital Properties, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARCP) and CapLease, Inc. (NYSE: LSE) announced on May 28 that they have signed a definitive merger agreement under which ARCP will acquire all of the outstanding shares of CapLease in a transaction valued at approximately $2.2 billion. Both companies’ boards of directors have unanimously approved the agreement. Following a stockholder vote by CapLease, the transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2013. As result of the merger, ARCP expects to be the 3rd largest net lease real estate investment trust (“REIT”) in the United States based on total pro forma equity market capitalization.
Capstone Turbine Corporation (NASDAQ:CPST) shares jumped 13.59% to $1.17. The company, on May 28, announced it received a major order for one of the most prominent privately held real estate and investment firms in the United States. Capstone distributor RSP Systems, headquartered in Bronx, NY, secured the significant order.
The order for multiple buildings is from New York based Related Companies, a highly regarded entrepreneurial innovator and industry leader in environmentally conscious real estate development.
